In 2020, Founder and CEO Zach Spring — pictured above — was diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma brain cancer. More distressing than the thought of death was the idea of leaving loved ones behind to grieve with only old memories, photos, and videos to remember him by.
Over the next two years, Zach lost both his uncle and a close friend. Like many who experience grief, he recognized the deep desire to continue hearing from those we've lost. While some people leave letters, or set up Trusts and Wills, there was no simple service that allowed us to carry our presence forward — in the ways we connect today — with or without a monetary gift. So, YourEkko was born.
Inspired by his cancer journey, Zach partnered with The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, where he received treatment in 2020, to help support their vision of a cancer-free world. For every Encore plan purchased, YourEkko donates $1 and contributes any unclaimed monetary gifts intended for Recipients.

Context of the Ekko messages are between the User and their Recipient. After the User saves the Ekko, Recipients will be notified to opt-in to receive. Upon User departure, Recipients will opt-in again but have options to opt-out.
1) View future send dates and Ekko types.
2) Pause Ekkos
NOTE: Paused Ekkos with or without money are stored for 365 days from pause date
and can be un-paused by contacting support@yourekko.com
3) Adjust Recurring Ekkos
NOTE - If STOP (opt-out) is texted in reply and more Ekko messages have yet to
send, with or without money, they will be stored for 365 days from the STOP date. To
retrieve remaining Ekkos, contact support@yourekko.com
Ekko Recipients will be contacted. Ekkos with money that Recipients do not claim after 365 days from initial contact, will go to OSUCCC-The James.
Recipient should contact their phone carrier and have them email support@yourekko.com with the updated number.
High risk and liability to the messages and whoever would distribute i.e. the executor. A device could be destroyed, lost, incompatible with future devices, the password could be lost, the executor could pass away and forget.
One-time Ekkos: Allow you to schedule a date and time for delivery after we confirm departure. 700 characters max. Include an optional monetary gift between $10-$1000 for your recipient to claim with their email upon receiving the Ekko.
Recurring Ekkos: Can be scheduled to be sent up to 3 years every day, one day per week, one day per month or one day per year. 60 characters max.
All Ekkos send around 12pm EST unless it is a One-time Ekko with a designated time.

The User account will pause and reach out to the User or Trusted Contacts to confirm if the User is alive.
Ekkos will be saved for up to 365 days.
Yes - a Recipient can contact support@yourekko.com to receive Ekko(s) with or without money, before the delivery dates, however, there is a waiting period.
